1Every year our Reading Fun Day committee coordinates with businesses, organizations, the Sun Journal, and local schools to put together Reading Fun Day. "What is Reading Fun Day?" you ask. Reading Fun Day is a FREE event that provides families a day to celebrate and encourage literacy. Families can enjoy multiple literacy based games and activities created by educators, fun interaction with assorted story book characters, and spend some time with our local fire fighters. Also, our co-sponsor, Craven Smart Start, provides families with a FREE book for children ages birth to 5 years old. While our council provides a FREE book for children in kindergarten to 6th grade.
